Public Health Annual Fund
The Program in Public Health has grown dramatically in recent years, due to both greater external interest in public health issues such as obesity, tobacco and substance abuse, and aging, and an increase in institutional investments as part of the Plan for Academic Enrichment. The Program is home to nine active, nationally renowned public health research centers. Each center is home to a thriving research program; Brown centers currently have external funding of $40 million annually.
Modeled after the successful Brown Medical Annual Fund, a new Brown Public Health Annual Fund (BPHAF) was launched this year. The BPHAF provides current use dollars that are put to work immediately, providing funding for faculty development activities and for faculty research and travel. The Fund will also supply student scholarship funds for students pursuing a master’s in public health and graduate students in other master’s and doctoral level programs throughout Public Health.
Gifts to the Public Health Annual Fund count as gifts to Boldly Brown: Campaign for Academic Enrichment, and supporters will be included in the Honor Roll of Donors. Increased investment in public health is a cornerstone of President Simmons’s Plan for Academic Enrichment, and the Public Health Annual Fund is yet another means of achieving these goals.
