Student Impact

Since nearly two-thirds of our students rely on grants and loans to help finance their medical education, the scholarship funds provided by the BMAF are critical. With a firm commitment to the need-blind admissions policy enacted several years ago, the Medical School receives more requests for aid in greater amounts, making the BMAF more important than ever.

The remainder of the BMAF is used for the development of the medical curriculum, particularly the Scholarly Concentrations Program and the Doctoring course. These are key features of the curriculum redesign that has been implemented over the past two years. BMAF dollars are used to provide high quality educational experiences across the curriculum, ensuring that Brown medical students are receiving a challenging and robust medical education.
